Almost ready for Christmas

Am I ready for Christmas? The answer is : not completely yet. Most of the shopping is done and now I just have to get some stocking stuffers. This year I asked the family if they wanted to draw names for stockings this year. They agreed that it would be a great idea, so we did. I am looking forward to getting gifts for the stocking I picked.

Santa Clause meets Santa Paws

I took Oscar to Redmond Lights last Saturday in his little Santa suit. It was so much fun and WOW... everyone loved his suit! I had about 20 people ask if they could get a picture of him and about 3 people ask if they could get a picture of their kids with him. It was so cute! Well, when the two Santas met each other it was really funny. The Santa had to keep wiping off his glasses because Oscar was sliming them with his kisses!

Eharmony

If you had asked me a year ago if I would ever try online dating, I would have said no. Well times have changed. A few months ago I signed up for Eharmony. I made a profile, put pictures up and waited. At the beginning of November someone wanted to start communicating with me. Well, long story short, we have been chatting since November 5th and I really like him. We have a lot in common and chat by e-mail almost everyday.

It's training time!

It is finally time for me to start training Mama Sadie. She is not going to get away with anything anymore. She needs to learn her basic commands. Boy, this should be fun!

Still looking

I'm still looking for another job, but now I'm thinking about just doing some seasonal work now; Then I will look for a more steady job in January. In the meantime I have still been having fun with my photography and have been working on getting Oscar certified as a therapy dog. The only problem he has is too much licking! Hopefully he can kick his habit...

Looking for a new job.

So I am going to be looking for a new job. I love what I do now, but I just don't have enough hours. I am looking for either another nanny job, or a job as a photographer. Maybe with animals?

Well, if anybody knows of anything let me know! Hopefully I can find one soon.

A trip to the vet

Monday I had to take Ginger to the vet for a short visit. Sunday, his paw was bleeding and when I looked at it I was shocked! His poor paw was about twice the size of the other one.

It turns out he has an infection in his paw, so he is now on antibiotics for two weeks and a pain medication for a week. Plus he goes in for a recheck next Saturday. If it isn't any better by then he will need to have an x-ray to make sure the infection hasn't gone to his bone.

I sure hope not...

Hot, Hot, Hot!

The weather has been so hot the past few days. Yesterday was 95 degrees outside and, for those of you who know Washington, that's hot! Yesterday I was going to take Oscar and Sadie to Cottage Lake, but it was too crowded. Both parking lots were full, and people were starting to park illegally. So instead, I set up the kiddie pool out in the back yard and threw Oscar's tennis ball in it, although he doesn't need the tennis ball to go in. He got excited just seeing me get the hose out!

Today is not as hot, but still 89 degrees. I'm going to try to go to the lake in a little bit. Maybe it's not so crowded this time. I can only hope....

Looking like Summer

The weather around here is finally starting to look and feel like Summer. This week is supposed to be hot, hot, hot! With the rest of the week in the mid 80's - low 90's, it will be perfect lake weather! I now have a chance to get my Canoe out and wash it down (it's been sitting in the garage all winter and spring), then I can take it out onto Cottage Lake.

A few days ago I started a new blog about my photography. I'm working on starting my own business and thought " Why not blog about it?" There is a link on my blog list.

Crazy Me

So, I have decided to do something completely crazy. I love taking Oscar out hiking with me. He has his little backpack that he carries all his stuff in and he can go a lot further than most Boston Terriers, plus he has so much fun. Recently I purchased a book called "Best hikes with dogs: Western Washington". Inside it has a whole list of hiking trails, where they are, how long they are etc. I figure- Why not do them all by next summer? So, that is what I am going to do- all 85 hikes. I will take my cameras with me on every single one and take photos of my adventures. Plus I will blog about each one and list the good, the bad, and the weird.

This is going to be so much fun!

Water dog

Boston Terriers are not a breed known to really like water, but for some reason Oscar does. When I take him to the lake, he will drag you there and when it's time to go home, you can't get him out of the water. The funny thing is-he used to be terrified of water. I'm not complaining though because I don't have to bath him in the summer. He does it himself!

The Long year

So, I decided to put this into parts, because if I don't it will get pretty boring.

Shortly after I did my last post, but previous boss bacame a real jerk and became very verbally and emotionally hurtful. I started to become very depressed and extremely stressed whenever I got to work. That started to show when my health started to decline, and I lost about 45 pounds, and I wasn't that big before. There was a point where my family bacame very worried about me and it was then that I knew I had to get out of that situation, for my own well being.

In early August I quit my job. That was probably the hardest thing I have ever done because I loved it, and still do, but I didn't like my boss.

In september, I started having hip problems again. It was a real bummer because I didn't have any issues with it for about 6 years. After going to the doctor and getting several x-rays, I found out that it wasn't the hip bone or joint. So, I had to go over to an orthopedist who suggested that, before thinking about doing surgery, I should try doing some physical therapy for about 6 weeks to see if that would fix the problem. Six weeks later, no change. The only other option was surgery. November 5th I had the surgery to lengthen my IT Band in my hip, as well as the muscles and tendons. The six weeks of recovery went be extremely slow and I couldn't wait for it to be all over. By the end, I was suffering from a severe case of cabin fever.

Thankfully, the surgery worked and I am feeling so much better. I am also happy to say that I found a part time job working as a nanny for an 18 month old adoreable little boy. I didn't want to go full time right after the surgery, I am working up to it though. I am also working on my photography because that is what I want to do in my life.

Such a long time

I realize that it has been such a long time since I last posted. It has been a really rough year for me ( I'll write about it in another post), but things are finally staring to look up. I am going to start blogging more frequently because it's fun and I have so many adventures that I am going to be heading out on over the next few months. So, with that, here's to a brighter future!
