Crazy Day

Yesterday was really crazy but great at the same time. At 1pm I had a dentist appointment to get my tooth ready for the crown. They got impressions of my mouth and were shocked when they saw my bite. My teeth on one side don't touch like they are supposed to. Three impressions were taken because the dentist was trying to figure out if that really was my bite. It was actually very amusing to listen to the dentist try to figure things out. At one point I even laughed so hard I snorted. Then I was asked if I was interested in getting a few more fillings done so I wouldn't have to make another appointment to do it. It was another 1.5 hours and they asked several times if I wanted to take a little break but I just wanted it to be done. I was told that I was a real trooper during the whole 3 hours.

I got home around 5pm and Louis was already waiting for me. We had time to do a few things before leaving to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at 6:45pm. We had so much fun and I was an awesome movie. Much better than the last one. It took my mind off the pain in my mouth and I was having fun at the same time. The only bad part was that I couldn't eat any candy or popcorn like I usually do. At least I had a great time!

Another Great Weekend

Saturday I didn't have to work so Dad and I went to Payne Field in Everett. There was a general aviation day for those who wanted to look at the planes. Louis was volunteering at the Flying Heritage Collection and invited me to come. It was so much fun and I got tons of pictures. Now I just have to put them on the laptop and then I will post them.

In need of hugs and prayers

Yesterday when I changed the Guinea Pig cages I noticed a lump under Lilly's chin. It was hard to tell if it was a growth or just fat but I knew it was not normal. She would also scream when being touched so I knew she was in pain.

I called the vet up first thing this morning and was able to get in before work. The vet felt her and also checked everything else(temp., teeth, ears, skin, etc.). She could feel that 6 of her lymph nodes were enlarged (2 on her neck, 2 behind her front legs, and 2 under her back legs) and that usually means an infection. It could also mean cancer. I talked it over with the vet and we have a plan. To rule out an infection, she was put on an antibiotic for two weeks. The vet also put her on an anti-inflammatory for the pain she is in.

I was also told to, if I was able to, seperate her from her housemate Vanilla Bean. That way I could keep a close eye on her everyday and make sure she is still eating and pooping okay. I just hope that the other three piggies will get along together.

I need to make another appointment in 2 weeks for a follow up visit. If she has not gotten any better the vet will do an in-house diagnostic. They will put a needle in the lump and draw out fluid, then put it under a microscope. If the vet can see that is is not from a lymph node or salivary gland, it's most likely cancer. In which case she will most likely be euthanized because her pain will just get worse.

The other alternative would be to take the fluid sample and have it sent to a diagnostic lab where the people there can tell for sure if it is cancer or not. The only downside is the cost which is about $160. I just don't see why I should spend all that money when she is old, 5.5 years, and will be in pain anyway.

I've have been, and will continue, preparing for the worst. I know all things must die at some point in life but I didn't expect it would end this way. You really do get attached after 4.5 years together.

I am asking for prayers from all my friends. I really need them right now. I will keep everyone posted as the weeks go on. I now leave you with some pictures of Lilly.

Got some sun today

I finally felt good enough to get outside for a little bit of sun this afternoon. It was wonderful! The dogs and piggies got to go out on the grass in the backyard for a little bit. I just had to make sure the hairless pigs didn't get burned. Everything is great. Tomorrow is supposed to be better than today so I'm thinking I may go to the park.

Sore and Can't Drive

My mouth is still really sore and so I am still taking pain meds. Because of this, I still can't drive. I should be much better by Friday but until then I am missing out on some great weather! I am so bummed. It's been clear blue sky and sunny the past two days and I am too tired to really want to do anything. On the plus side, Sadie is doing much better today. She must have eaten something that didn't agree with her.

Sore mouth and sick dog

This morning I had a root canal and it was no fun at all. It was funny that the dentist and her assistant were shocked that I am 24. They said I looked so young, which is really true because a lot of people think I'm not even old enough to drive. They just saying that I have such a baby face. I was put on Vicodin for the pain, so I can't work tomorrow because I can't drive while on the pain pills. It made me so tired that I took a 3 hour nap this afternoon. It was great to get some much needed sleep!

Now, I have a very sick dog. Sadie is not herself at all. All she wants to do is stay in the crate. She doesn't want to eat, which REALLY isn't normal, or drink. My mom is going to keep Sadie in her room tonight because the Vicodin is just going to knock me out and I won't know if something happens during the night. If she's not better by tomorrow I may have to take her to the vet. I hope it doesn't come to that.

Well, that's all for now. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Two Years Ago Today

It was two years ago today that I signed Mama Sadie's adoption papers and she became mine. It also happens to be my Birthday. It was, by far, the best Birthday ever! I love her so much even though she is kind of wacky. I remember the first time I saw her. My heart broke when I saw the fear in her eyes. She didn't want anything to do with people at all. It took so long for her to be able to trust me, but it was all worth it. I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. She will always be mine.

Eating together as friends

My parent's dog Miko saw Ginger getting a bite of carrot and really, really wanted some. She waited until I told her she could have some. I had to take a picture because it was just too cute. Both of them eating the carrot together.

What a Cutie

I love my boy Oscar. He makes me laugh everyday and he also inspires me everyday to do photography. It was such a good day on Thursday so I got some pictures. I wanted to get both Oscar and Sadie but Mama Sadie didn't want any of it. She ran away from me as soon as she saw the camera come out.

I can't believe he is going to be 6 years old next month. He has so much white on his face.

Gollum goes to Preschool

Gollum got to go to a preschool yesterday because my mom was helping out. I wasn't there but I heard he did great. He is so good with everyone and NEVER bites. Plus the kids absolutely loved him. In fact, he is going back again next week. I just love this little guy!

Part 1 of Root Canal: Done

I had part one of three in my root canal this morning. For about 4 hours after, half my face was still numb and it felt like I just got punched in the face. It's feeling better but still not completely great. My next appointment for part 2 is going to be May 17. There was an opening on the 16th but I told them that it was my Birthday that day and I really didn't want to spend it at the dentist. Now, I just can't chew on that side of my mouth for about two weeks.

Early Mother's Day gift for Mom

I let my mom have one of her Mother's Day gifts a day early this year. Only because it was a beautiful bouquet of flowers. It really needed to go in a vase and I knew she would really love it. I was right! She really really loved it and wanted to put it where everyone could see it. I'll get a picture of it tomorrow.

Another dentist appointment

So I had another dentist appointment this afternoon to get some fillings. I also learned that I have low enamel on my teeth which is most likely what caused my need for so many fillings. I got the low enamel from my mother who got it from her mother. Oh the joys of family. NOT! This picture was taken when I got home. I was trying to smile but couldn't. My face doesn't look as bad as it feels.

Oscar loves his ball!

I can't even say how much this is true. He will play ball until he drops. It's so easy to tire him out.

Here he is balancing the ball on his nose.

Here he is loving his ball

Sun today gone tomorrow

Yay! There is actually sun today, but it's too bad that it will be gone tomorrow. Louis and I were planning on doing something together when he gets of school tomorrow but I guess we won't be doing anything outdoors. It would have been fun to test out my new tennis racket. Stupid rain- why can't you come in the fall. I'm tired of being stuck indoors having to find something to do almost everyday.

In other news, still no baby birds. I'm not sure if they are even going to hatch. I hope it hasn't been too cold for them this year. That would be a tragedy.

My dog, the beggar

I love Oscar but I don't like his begging. I don't usually let him in the kitchen when I am eating and the other day I did. Bad idea on my part. Now I know why I always kick him out. This is the look he gave me.

I was eating a hard boiled egg and he wanted it so bad. I didn't give in and he finally left. From now on, no dogs in the kitchen!

A little Glimpse of Spring

The past two days have been such beautiful weather and now it's been raining today. At least we had a little bit of sunny spring weather even if it didn't last that long. I just knew that two sunny days in a row was too good to be true...well, here's a picture from Saturday when Louis and I went to the park. The shadow of the tree was too beautiful not to take a picture.

So much Sun!

I am happy to say that Spring weather is finally here. I'm going to cherish the sun while it is shining because those who live in Washington know that you never know when you will see the sun again. After church I took Oscar over to Cottage Lake Park so he could fetch his toy in the water. When I got his toy out, he got so excited. He knows that he is going to the lake when I get his toy and his life jacket out.

Here he is before he went in the water

Here he is bringing the toy back to me

I want more good days like this please!
